Root Canal Treatment

If a nerve starts to die or the tooth has become infected and has already died, it is still possible to retain the tooth in most cases as long as root treatment is carefully and successfully completed.

Inside each tooth there are fine canals that are occupied by the nerve as part of its growing and development process.  The nerve can die or become infected in a number of ways.

  • Decay
  • Injury
  • Part of the tooth may be cracked allowing bacteria into the nerve system

Root Canal Treatment

Root fillings are carried out in the practice or sometimes referred to a specialist practitioner, Barbara Swistak at the Charing Cross dental practice in Norwich.

Patients return to our practice for the final restoration and we continue to monitor these situations. Root Canal treatment is also known as endodontic treatment.
